On their second visit the invitation to attend was extended to all patients and their families.

The Warrior Music Project developed through the friendship of Australian Army Veteran, (Major) Rob Pickersgill and Australian Rock Legend, John “Swanee” Swan (OAM).  Both are aware of the healing power of music and Swanee had spent a lot of time with Veterans in an Adelaide psychiatric facility, connecting with them through music.  Both of them wish to improve the life of Veterans through offering them the gift of music.

Appeals were made to the Australian Music community to support this project.  Two keen supporters are Paul (The Cockroaches) & Anthony (The Cockroaches/The Wiggles) Field, who are aware of the work of St John of God Richmond Hospital through their sister (Maria) who is a Richmond caregiver.  Maria met with Rob & Swanee and laid the foundations for St John of God Richmond Hospital to be involved with the Warrior Music Project and have them visit us.

St John of God Richmond and the Warrior Music Project hope to continue to develop this new partnership, bringing connection, inspiration and improvements in quality of life to our patients.
