On Thursday 25 May St John of God Richmond hospital hosted The Great Richmond Bake Off in combination with Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Research shows that people with mental illness are at higher risk of developing cancer. This event aimed at raising awareness of mental illness as well as help the Cancer Council raise much needed funds that go towards vital cancer research, support services, prevention programs, and advocacy.

Over $600 was raised for the Cancer Council with sweepstakes, tasting plates and amazing entries in the bake off – some of them challenging MKR creations. Even our CEO Steve Brookerput his chef’s hat on and created a fabulous Black Forest Cake.

Lucky Bake Off Judges were Deputy Mayor of Hawkesbury – Barry Calvert, General Manager of The Sebel – David Ross and Chairman of Hawkesbury Hospital Auxiliary – Sonia Teuma, with the “Show Champion” being awarded to nurse Virginia for her delectable macarons.
