2024 Doctors in Training Hospital Health Check survey results
21 May 2024
St John of God Health received high scores in morale, culture and the equal highest score in the State for being an employer that 91% of Doctors in Training would recommend.
St John of God Health Care continues to work hard on issues such as workload, leave provision and maintaining our supportive culture at all levels. In the current health care environment, this remains an ongoing challenge, but one we are embracing as an organisation.
This year, St John of God Health Care has announced an expansion of its Subiaco and Midland Hospitals as well as plans for our Mount Lawley Hospital to expand its services.
Doctors in Training can also now rotate to Northam and Bunbury from our sites as Resident Medical Officers, are increasing our training opportunities and exposure to rural medicine. All of these will enable more Doctors in Training to experience positive attributes of our organisation and broaden and improve their clinical exposure.
As a Doctors in Training responsive organisation, we acknowledge that there is still work to be done, and we will continue to build on our great culture to remain an employer of choice for doctors in training.
Whilst St John of God Health Care is currently prioritising actions directed at improving payroll accuracy, work on bullying, burnout and fatigue management are issues that require constant attention.
We note that currently only 2/3 of our Doctors in Training claim their overtime. Breaking this historical hesitancy to claim overtime remains an important aspect of caring for our Doctors in Training.
Through a raft of new initiatives targeted at Doctors in Training and ongoing executive support, we look forward to building on this success of our 2024 results, with the aim that our results in 2025 will be even better.
