Leading general surgeon wins medical award

General Surgeon Dr Graeme Clarke was recently awarded the Ellis Pixley Award for 30 years of service at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital.

“We are deeply grateful to Graeme for his contribution, dedicating 30 of his 40 years as a doctor to our hospital,” St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital Chief Executive Officer Vanessa Unwin said.

“He is always willing to lend a hand or advice to his colleagues, and has superbly fulfilled his role as Head of Department General Surgery.” 

“Graeme has been a much loved and respected member of our hospital community, he will be truly missed,” she said.

The Ellis Pixley Award was first presented in 2017 and named in honour of the first Executive Medical Director of St Anne’s Hospital (now St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital), Dr Ellis Pixley and celebrates the contribution of a retiring specialist.

The award was presented at the St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital Medical Practitioner Soiree, which acknowledges the contribution of specialists to the hospital and its patients.
