We are once again glad to be supporting Homeless Healthcare as our Charity of Choice and are keen to kick-off our end of winter appeal with a collection of items for homeless and marginalised people in Perth.

St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital supports Homeless HealthcareA big thank you to Specialist Rehabilitation Service Assistant Nurse Manager Colleen Fossey whose passion continues to drive support for this important organisation.

Colleen, who originally linked with Homeless Healthcare as part of her Diploma in Leadership and Management, encourages everyone to dig deep over the whole month of September.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone who has been involved in previous fundraising and donation efforts,” Colleen said.

“We are excited to continue to collect items and raise funds through collection tins throughout the hospital.

“Homeless Healthcare provides amazing services to support people to break the cycle of homelessness and also to make sure they have access to high quality health care.

“New items such as socks and thongs, beanies and gloves, sunscreen, insect repellent and sanitary items would be most welcome.

“Our aim is to gather as much as we can over the month of September and then hand everything over with a celebration.

"I really encourage everyone to contribute even one item.”

Director Mission Integration Liz Beal is looking forward to seeing people coming together to provide for those less fortunate.

“Having Homeless Healthcare as our Charity of Choice is a great way to get everyone working together to give back to our community,” said Liz.

“We have so many fantastic caregivers, and I applaud Colleen’s efforts to continue this important support.

“Helping those that do not have a roof over their heads, or who are doing it tough fits beautifully with our values – particularly as it reflects patient-centred health care, as we do here at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital.”

If you have something you would like to donate, Colleen has a collection box in her office.
