“We have a specific operating theatre set up for the investigation of urological conditions,” says Urological Surgeon Dr Paul McRae.

“You may need to have a cystoscopy, which is an examination of the urethra or the prostate in males, and the bladder.  We investigate any urinary disturbances, or diagnose stones, tumours or infections.

“If you are booked in for a urology investigation, you can usually expect a quick procedure that we perform under a local anaesthetic.  Our patients are generally discharged immediately afterwards.

“We also have equipment to undertake urodynamic studies of the bladder function.  During this procedure, we take measurements of the pressure in the bladder, which assists in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary dysfunction.

“Overall, we offer full diagnostic and therapeutic options for conditions and symptoms relating to the lower urinary tract,” said Dr McRae.

Clinical Nurse Jenny Tomson says patients can expect excellent care from the urology team.

“Our dedicated team has specialist knowledge and training in urology procedures,” says Jenny.

“We are here to help and support patients from the moment they come in, during their procedure and their recovery.

“Our priority is patient comfort and knowing that each and every patient receives the very best of care.”
