An accomplished orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Trinajstic recently joined SJG Mt Lawley Hospital.

For the past 20 years Mr Trinajstic has been focusing on the lower limb, mainly hip and knee replacement surgery, and foot and ankle surgery.

“It is reported that up to 20 per cent of patients are not happy with their knee replacements.  My current focus is to better understand why this happens and adjust the way we do things to prevent, eliminate or minimise this.”

Mr Trinajstic decided to relocate his surgery to SJG Mt Lawley Hospital to improve the level of service to his patients.

“Initiatives such as ‘Enhanced Recovery After Surgery’ requires expertise and collaboration from all members of staff who care for my patients – from the nurses, operating theatre team, physiotherapists, rehabilitation physicians to the surgeon.

“The team at SJG Mt Lawley Hospital are working really hard to make it happen.”

When looking at results in other Australian, US and European centres, Mr Trinajstic says techniques will result in better and faster outcomes for the patient including less down time, fewer and less severe symptoms and faster recovery of function.

“It is the best end result which counts, ensuring we provide a pathway that has fewer hurdles to the patient’s recovery.

“I believe in looking after a patient and taking into consideration all aspects of their care. My aim is for my patients to feel that, as their surgeon, I am listening to them and addressing their concerns throughout their care, and after if required.”

Mr Trinajstic believes it is crucial to ensure patients are involved with their care, both in the decision making and participation in their own recovery of function.

Mr Trinajstic provides gap free inpatient services.
