Midland caregivers raise almost $9000 for new Charity of the Year, In Memory of You

Just prior to Christmas, St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals third Charity of the Year (CHOTY), In Memory of You, was announced. The CHOTY program facilitates the selection of a suitable charity each year, nominated by a Midland caregiver, with the charity benefiting from funds raised from numerous hospital events from November through to the following October.

In Memory of You was co-founded by Jess Doyle and Emma Francis after their paths crossed following the loss of their second born babies only four days apart in September 2021. These amazing women, supported by a group of equally passionate volunteers, dedicate their time to better support and comfort bereaved families navigating pregnancy, infant and child loss, through the gifting of Memory Boxes, group and peer support.

Memory Boxes are thoughtfully assembled to support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. Each box includes keepsakes, valuable resources, and vital information from trusted professionals. The boxes aim to provide comfort and opportunities for families to make tangible memories while in hospital, during a profoundly heartbreaking time. Designed for mothers experiencing early pregnancy loss via miscarriage and surgical management, the Keepsake Packs address a key gap in bereavement care. The packs offer a combination of keepsakes, supportive resources, and meaningful items to help grieving mothers feel seen and supported as they navigate their loss. Many Midland caregivers will have seen the boxes and packs on our wards and know the profound impact they have.

Fundraising efforts in the lead up to Christmas saw the generosity of our caregivers shine through to raise almost $9000 for In Memory of You.
