Cardiac Diagnostic Clinic: how to refer patients

Did you know that patients do not need to be under the supervision of a cardiologist to access our Cardiac Diagnostic Clinic?

15 Mar 2023

GPs who require echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, Holter monitoring and blood pressure monitoring for their patients can simply complete a referral form and email or fax it to:

Fax: 03 8784 5650
Email: [email protected]

This consistency of care approach means GPs can now request (in some cases, bulk-billed) diagnostic testing without sending patients elsewhere for cardiac care.

In the event that anything abnormal is detected, our cardiologists will then consult with the referring doctor before arranging any further procedures that may be required, such as:

  • angiography
  • stenting
  • pacemakers
  • defibrillators
  • electrophysiology studies.

The added benefit being patients are already onsite to access more complex or urgent treatment.

Furthermore, that continuity of care extends to patients who may need rehabilitation services as part of their recovery from a cardiac event, with both Frankston and Berwick hospitals offering inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative care.

Our GP Liaison Officer Olivia Macente, has been delivering referral pads to local GPS over recent months, if your practice has not received one or you require extra pads, please contact Olivia on 0438 168 903.

The Cardiac Diagnostic Clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
