From graduate nurse to scholarship success
Driven by her dedication to health care and a passion for perioperative nursing, Registered Nurse Nicole Lobo has been honoured with a St John of God Health Care Scholarship.
3 Apr 2025
From the moment Nicole Lobo experienced perioperative nursing during her graduate program at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital, she knew she had found her place. Gaining hands on experience in anaesthetics, scrub scout and recovery, Nicole completed her graduate program in 2022 and continued her career in the hospital’s busy operating theatres.
Now working as an anaesthetic nurse, Nicole decided she had nothing to lose and applied for a St John of God Health Care Scholarship.
“I applied for this scholarship to pursue further study in perioperative nursing,” Nicole said.
“I am passionate about my role and I am committed to making a positive impact within health care.
“This scholarship will aid in that pursuit for knowledge and help me grow in my profession.”
In St John of God Health Care tradition, Nicole was awarded her scholarship during the annual St John of God Day celebrations. The St John of God Health Care scholarship rewards and recognises performance excellence, supports caregiver development, and enables caregivers to make strong and positive contributions to the life of St John of God Health Care.
“I was so honoured to have been awarded the scholarship and given the opportunity to pursue further study.”
“Having the strong support of the hospital team gives me an extra boost of confidence.
“This scholarship will enable me to continue making meaningful contributions to the wellbeing of my patients and help me grow my nursing career,” Nicole explained.
Nicole will be completing a Graduate Diploma of Perioperative Nursing at Notre Dame University.
“I hope these studies will equip me with the theory to make more informed clinical decisions.”
“I wish to continue providing compassionate care, advocating for patients, and contributing further to the field of perioperative nursing.
“I am so thankful.”
