Each year our committee of general surgeon consultants and support staff offer a two-day mock exam training course for trainees preparing for their Fellowship Examination in General Surgery.

A prospective group of six final year general surgeon trainees participated in this year’s training course, which is designed to simulate the content and rigor of the actual fellowship exam.

With meaningful feedback given to candidates at the end of the day, the training course assesses the knowledge, clinical skills, judgement, decision making and professional competencies of candidates, to provide practice in presenting to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Fellowship Examination in General Surgery.

Day 2 involved the viva component of the exam, with surgical consultants from across Perth donating their time and expertise to deliver our general surgery syllabus in the format of the fellowship. We wish all those who attended, good luck in their exam!

This year, an educational grant from sponsor ConMed helped to ensure the examination could be run effectively.
