The scholarship will enable Rebecca to attend the annual Smart Strokes Conference in Sydney.

St John of God Midland Public Hospital Chief Executive Officer Michael Hogan said the scholarship is a collaboration between the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals’ Stroke Unit and the Swan Valley Rotary Club.

“Now in its third year, the scholarship aims to advance the professional development of caregivers who work in the area of stroke, as well as the level of care provided in our Stroke Unit," Michael said.

“Rebecca is highly deserving of the award as she is a dynamic and passionate member of the team who delivers the nutrition program for our stroke patients.

“She is always seeking opportunities to improve the care of our patients and goes above and beyond to deliver this care.”

Rebecca said she was very grateful for the scholarship, as the conference will provide a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest advances in medicine and dietetics to help us better assist those living with the effects of stroke.

“I hope to gain information from this conference to help support the whole team,” Rebecca said.

“Throughout my career I have sought to build my knowledge and skills so I can better support my patients and to satisfy my own passion for professional and self-development.”

Rotary Club of Swan Valley President Ineke Oliver said the Rotary Club of Swan Valley is keen to support health initiatives and the annual sponsorship of scholarships for participants is very rewarding.

“The feedback from the scholarship winners is always positive and the long-term impact of the conferences help to enhance their professional lives, which in turn has a positive effect on their patients,” Ineke said.

“In Rotary, together we change lives.”

Following the conference, Rebecca will present her findings to hospital caregivers and the Swan Valley Rotary Club.
