Geriatrician Dr Asan Akpan has joined our team of specialists working with St John of God Bunbury Hospital and is consulting from the St John of God Bunbury Specialist Centre.

Dr Akpan is a geriatrician dedicated to supporting older adults with their health care needs. Known for his compassionate approach, Dr Akpan builds strong relationships with patients, families, and carers — always focusing on what matters most to them.

Together with Dr Ola Otaiku, Dr Akpan consults privately at Southwest Gerontology, located at the St John of God Bunbury Specialist Centre on Spencer Street in Bunbury.

Before relocating to Bunbury in 2023, Dr Akpan worked in the UK, United States and Nigeria, bringing a truly international perspective to his care. Now settled in Western Australia, he enjoys exploring the South West region in his free time.

Dr Akpan says understanding what matters most to each patient is an essential step in building meaningful relationships with them and their families.
