Supporting older persons’ health - meet our new South West based geriatricians

Presented by St John of God Bunbury Hospital and the WA Country Health Service.

We are excited to welcome two new geriatricians to Bunbury who are available for both public (at Bunbury Hospital) and private consultations (at St John of God Bunbury Specialist Centre). GPs are invited to an education evening on how to support your older patients to lead healthier lives.

  • Overview of geriatric medical services in the South West.
  • Comprehensive geriatric assessments (including polypharmacy).
  • Dementia and memory loss conditions.

Dr Akpan has general and specialist qualifications in geriatric medicine. He is an expert in the comprehensive care of older people, aged 65 years and over, who have multiple chronic conditions with polypharmacy.

Dr Otaiku has worked in geriatric and rehabilitation medicine in hospitals across the UK and Australia. Dr Otaiku understands the importance of maintaining patients' independence and quality of life. He is known for his compassionate and patient centred approach.
