We work closely with the WA Country Health Service, South West Health Professionals Network and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to ensure training is relevant to the needs of local GPs.
GPs will have the option to self-claim CPD points.
We are working towards making our GP education events Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) accredited.

Direct admission to St John of God Bunbury Hospital
General practitioners can now admit patients to St John of God Bunbury hospital without requiring admitting rights.
Direct admission is suitable for non-emergency conditions and allows patients to bypass long waits in the Emergency Department.
If your patient has private health insurance and would like to be admitted to our hospital for treatment, please follow the instructions below.

Direct admission may be appropriate for patients who present with:
- mild heart failure
- urinary tract infection
- cellulitis
- acute respiratory infection
- deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism
Please note: some patients may need to be triaged via the Emergency Department at Bunbury Regional Hospital before they can be admitted.

Accreditation at St John of God Bunbury Hospital

All medical practitioners admitting patients, consulting or operating on patients at our hospital must be accredited and hold clinical privileges.

Subject to initial review, the Chief Executive Officer may grant a 3 month provisional accreditation status.
Our Scope of Practice Committee meets bi-monthly to consider recommendations of accreditation. If approved, accreditation may be granted for periods of up to 3 years.

By-laws and code of conduct
All accredited medical practitioners and service providers are expected to adhere to our code of conduct and practitioner by-laws. These documents govern the relationship between St John of God Health Care and its accredited practitioners, and set expectations for professional conduct, patient safety and the delivery of quality care at our hospitals and services. Practitioners will receive both documents following successful credentialing.
