Betty who was awarded life membership in July 2018 after her 15 years of services was named volunteer of the year at a special ceremony hosted by Hawkesbury City Council and presented by Hawkesbury Mayor Barry Calvert.

Throughout her time at the hospital, Betty has served in various roles including vice-president and managed groups of volunteers who visited patients in the hospital wards.

She has been a great role model and mentor for other volunteers and has made a significant contribution to the staff, patients and their families at Hawkesbury Hospital.

At 90 years old and with restricted mobility, Betty still regularly volunteers at the hospital gift shop.

On accepting the award, Betty sends the message that despite your age or restrictions, you can still make a positive contribution to others.

We value Betty’s contribution and congratulate her on receiving the volunteer of the year award.
