Admissions and referrals to St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital

We provide a range of referral pathways for acute, elective, rehabilitation and older adult rehabilitation care.

Accreditation

Accreditation as a Visiting Medical Officer is available to a practitioner who is certified by:

  • a relevant clinical college
  • holds full WA Medical Board registration
  • is recognised as a specialist for the payment of medical benefits by the Health Insurance Commission.

By-laws and code of conduct

All accredited medical practitioners and service providers are expected to adhere to our code of conduct and practitioner by-laws. These documents govern the relationship between St John of God Health Care and its accredited practitioners, and set expectations for professional conduct, patient safety and the delivery of quality care at our hospitals and services. Practitioners will receive both documents following successful credentialing.

Theatre availability

Theatre session management is governed by the Theatre Efficiency Committee (TEC). The effective management of resources is a very important element of St John of God Health Care’s Mission.

Theatre sessions run on a 4 week rotation and can be found in the annual theatre calendar. Permanent theatre session allocation process is as follows:

  1. Specialist completes theatre session allocation form and emails to [email protected]
  2. Director of Business and Service Development reviews request in consultation with perioperative team.
  3. Request is presented to the Theatre Efficiency Committee and an outcome letter is sent to the specialist.
