Pregnancy is often a joyful and exciting journey, but it can also bring moments of uncertainty and questions, particularly for those experiencing it for the first time.
We’re here to support you every step of the way, helping you build knowledge, confidence and reassurance as you prepare for what lies ahead. Our services include parent education classes, support with your hospital registration and ongoing telephone support from our maternity team.
Hospital booking-in process
Once your obstetrician has completed your hospital registration, they will forward the paperwork to us on your behalf. Our caregivers will then be in touch to guide you through any remaining booking requirements and ensure everything is in place for your care.
Telephone support for patients
You are welcome to contact our maternity unit at any time with pregnancy-related concerns or questions. A midwife will assess your situation and guide you to the most appropriate level of care. This may include:
- Inviting you to attend the maternity unit for further assessment or to commence labour care.
- Recommending presentation to an emergency department for specialist medical review.
- Advising you to follow up with your obstetrician or GP
Please contact us if you:
- Have any concerns during your pregnancy.
- Think you may be in labour.
- Experience vaginal bleeding or suspect your waters have broken.
- Develop a severe headache and/or visual disturbances, such as blurred vision.
- Experience significant abdominal pain.
- Notice reduced baby movements (from 20 weeks).
- We are here to support you and ensure you receive timely and appropriate care whenever you need it.
Parent education classes
Preparing for a new baby is an exciting journey, and it’s natural for parents to want guidance and reassurance along the way.
Our goal is to help you feel informed, confident and supported as you move through pregnancy, your baby’s birth and the early days of parenthood. To support this, we offer comprehensive hospital maternity education services designed to prepare and empower you for the transition into parenthood.
What to expect
Our relaxed and informal hospital maternity education classes are led by experienced midwives, providing a supportive environment where you can learn, share experiences and ask questions with confidence. Some sessions may also include other qualified health professionals who offer specialist insight on specific topics.
We cover a wide range of information to support you through pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and the early stages of parenting, as outlined below.
Please note that some classes may incur a fee. We recommend checking with your private health fund prior to attending, as many funds may cover all or part of the cost.
