Vanessa Unwin
Chief Executive Officer
Vanessa Unwin was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of St John of God Midland Private Hospital in June 2025.
Vanessa leads the commissioning of the new hospital ahead of its opening in August 2026, before transitioning into the ongoing CEO role as the hospital becomes fully operational. Vanessa brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to our Mission, having first joined St John of God Health Care in 2008.
After contributing to the commissioning of Fiona Stanley Hospital, she rejoined SJGHC in 2015 and has since held several senior leadership roles – including Director of Nursing at Mt Lawley, and most recently, CEO of St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital, a role led with distinction for 4 years.
Emma Cook
Director of Nursing
Emma was appointed as the Director of Nursing for the new hospital in November 2025. Emma has more than 20 years’ experience in a variety of clinical and nursing executive roles at St John of God Health Care.
She began her journey at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital as a graduate nurse where she went on to complete her post-graduate studies in midwifery.
Emma later went on to serve as Nurse Unit Manager for the family birthing unit before being promoted to the Deputy Director of Nursing – Operations, Procedural and Obstetric Services.
In 2022, she was appointed as Director of Nursing at the hospital. Emma will lead all clinical commissioning activities for St John of God Midland Private Hospital, ensuring that both operational and clinical teams are fully prepared to receive and care for patients when the hospital opens in August 2026.
Lorraine Williamson
Director of Finance and Corporate Services
Lorraine was appointed as the Director of Finance & Corporate Services for the new hospital in March 2026.
Lorraine guides the hospital’s Finance and Corporate Services directorate including providing both strategic direction and day-to-day operational leadership across several departments.
Lorraine brings more than 20 years of senior and executive leadership experience across complex health and public sector organisations with strong expertise in financial management, operational service delivery, risk, procurement and organisational performance.
Dr Matthew Skinner
Director of Medical Services
Dr Matthew Skinner was appointed as Director of Medical Services for the new hospital in August 2026, bringing almost 30 years of clinical and leadership experience. A general and infectious diseases physician, he has held senior leadership roles across several Western Australian health services and most recently served as Acting Director of Medical Services at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital. His extensive experience and commitment to clinical excellence will play a key role in leading our medical workforce and delivering outstanding patient care.
Aimee Gullotto
Director of Business & Service Development
Aimee was appointed Director of Business and Service Development for the hospital in June 2026, joining us from St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital. With more than 15 years of experience in business development, community engagement, wellbeing, sales and marketing she brings a wealth of expertise in building strategic partnerships, strengthening community connections and identifying opportunities for growth. Aimee's experience and innovative approach will play an important role in supporting the hospital's future success and ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our community.
Karlee Guest
Director of Mission Integration
Karlee was appointed Director of Mission Integration in July 2026 and plays a vital role in strengthening and embedding our Catholic identity throughout the hospital. Since joining St John of God Health Care in 2018, she has held a range of pastoral and mission leadership positions across Midland, Mt Lawley and Subiaco hospitals. With qualifications in social science, theology and bioethics, Karlee brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of our Mission and Values and a compassionate leadership style that will help shape the culture of our hospital.
