Melvin has worked at St John of God Bunbury Hospital for about one year, having joined the hospital after being recommended it by a friend.

“I decided to change my expertise from critical care to palliative care and have been happy to be a part of this team ever since,” he said.

“There is much more to palliative nursing then most people realise, there is a lot more commitment and engagement to the people we are caring for and the family as well.”

Melvin has worked as a nurse for 14 years, in a variety of countries and cities around the world.

He said he was drawn to Bunbury due to the opportunity to work in palliative care and live in a smaller community.

“For me, my personal values align very closely with those at St John of God Health Care so it was a great fit,” he said.

“I love Bunbury, it is a beautiful place with lots of nature to explore. The people around me are very supportive in my career.”
