Our position statements

Our position statements are guided by our Mission and Values and outline St John of God Health Care’s perspectives on key issues relevant to our organisation and services.

Voluntary assisted dying

St John of God Health Care is devoted to providing compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care through our palliative, pastoral and supportive services. While we do not provide services related to voluntary assisted dying (VAD), our caregivers approach all VAD-related conversations with openness, sensitivity and respect.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to care for every patient, including those who are considering VAD, ensuring they feel supported, heard and valued.

Support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart

St John of God Health Care is proud to accept the invitation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and participate in the movement for a better future for all Australians.

We support culturally grounded care and community-led approaches to health, and will continue to strengthen cultural safety, grow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and leadership, build respectful relationships and work to contribute to closing the gap in health and wellbeing outcomes.
