Our ethical responsibilities

At St John of God Health Care, acting with integrity and respect is fundamental to who we are. Our ethical responsibilities guide the way we care for people, work with one another and engage with our partners and communities.

Through clear policies, strong governance and a commitment to transparency we strive to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, protect human rights and foster a culture where everyone feels safe, respected and empowered to speak up.

Modern slavery statement summary

We stand firmly against modern slavery and all forms of exploitation. We recognise that modern slavery can exist in complex and often hidden ways, particularly within supply chains. For this reason, we work closely with our suppliers and contractors to uphold human rights and promote transparency, fairness and ethical practices.

Collaboration also remains central to our efforts. Our partnerships with the Australian Catholic Anti-Slavery Network (ACAN), Catholic Health Australia (CHA), and Catholic Network Australia (CNA) have been instrumental in helping us identify and address modern slavery risks.

Addressing modern slavery requires collective action. We remain dedicated to working alongside government, industry and our partners to drive lasting, systemic change.

  • Illegal activity, such as theft or improper use of illicit/prescription drugs, violence, criminal damage against property, harassment, intimidation or other suspected breaches of State or Federal law.
  • Offering or accepting a bribe.
  • Unethical behaviours such as dishonesty, or wilfully breaching St John of God Health Care’s code of conduct.
  • Any activity that presents a danger to the public.

We are committed to fostering a strong culture of honest and ethical conduct and behaviour, legislative compliance and excellent corporate governance, in line with our Vision, Mission and Values.
