How long have you worked at St John of God Warrnambool Hospital?

I actually started with St John of God Subiaco Hospital in Western Australia in 2007, and worked there for 11 years. I then relocated back to Warrnambool in 2018, and was lucky enough to secure my position then.

Why were you interested in working with us?

I love working at St Joh of God Health Care. As I said, I have worked for the organisation for 15 years, I have worked in various roles from clinical nurse positions, to nurse managers positions, and now obviously quality and learning and development.

We have ample opportunity and support to grow our careers and it’s a very inclusive working environment.
Our number one goal is excellent patient care, and it’s rewarding to work for an organisation with such values.

What opportunities have you received while working with us?

I have received multiple opportunities with working for St John of God Health Care.
At Subiaco, I received the opportunity to complete my Diploma of Management. I have also completed many short courses, as well as advanced training in life support and paediatrics. I have also completed numerous coaching and leadership workshops.
If you have a passion for something, St John of God Health Care will encourage you to follow that passion within health care and assist you in doing that.

What do you love about living in Warrnambool?

I love living in Warrnambool. It’s a small seaside town, we have beaches, we have the whales in winter, and it’s a really lovely location to raise a family.

What do you want other people to know about working with St John of God Health Care?

I’d like other people to know that St John of God Health Care strive for excellent patient care.

Whenever we come to work the patient is always at the forefront of our minds. With anything that we do; with whatever role you hold, that patient is always at the forefront.
We strive to provide excellent patient care, and in that we work really well as a team and it’s just a really supportive work environment.

Do you and your team socialise outside of work?

We have numerous social activities outside of work, and being a small town you know most of the people that work in the hospital which is lovely.

What does St John of God Health Care do to make you feel cared about in the workplace?

St John of God Health Care is an inclusive workplace, everyone is really caring and we work well as a team.
The management team checks in on us regularly, we have lots of celebrations for birthdays and such, and we recognise nurses during special occasions (such as International Nurses Day), and also Christmas celebrations. So we are definitely well supported.
