The St John of God Geelong Hospital Auxiliary plays an important role in supporting the hospital, patients and members of the community by raising much needed funds for new medical equipment, technology and services, having raised more than $1 million since inception.
Fundraising activities
Members actively participate in fundraising activities including raffles, fashion parades, cake stalls and lunches with guest speakers.
2026 fundraising activities:
- Easter hamper raffle
- High tea at Sacred Heart College - Tuesday 12 May
- Routley’s pie drive
- Mother’s Day stall - Friday 8 May
- Winter cake and bake stall - Friday 31 July
- Father’s Day stall - Friday 4 September
- Christmas hamper raffle
- Christmas cake and bake stall - Friday 27 November
Funds raised from these events are donated to the hospital for equipment and services that improve patient experience.
In recent years, funds have gone towards the hospital’s:
- Special Care, Day Stay and Day Oncology units
- fitting out four rooms in the Intensive Care Unit
- provision of special needs beds
- volunteer vehicle for oncology patients
- an ultrasound machine for mothers and babies in maternity, and
- technology to support the hospital's Cardiac Care Unit
Gift shop
In addition to fundraising, the auxiliary also operates and manages the hospital gift shop. Located on the ground floor between the discharge office and pharmacy, the gift shop sells:
- newspapers and magazines
- a range of gift cards
- toiletries and skin care products
- candles and diffusers
- soft toys
- gift packs
- knitted clothing for babies
- confectionery and boxed chocolates
- flower arrangements and balloons
Gift shop opening hours
- Monday to Friday: 10:00am to 6:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:00am to 1:00pm
- Closed: Easter, Anzac Day and over the Christmas and New Year period.
