Community and social outreach

We endeavour to build strong community relationships and collaborative programs that benefit the most vulnerable in our community.

As a not-for-profit hospital, we reinvest our profits into three core areas of support:

  • new hospital services and technologies
  • social outreach activities within our community
  • international health.

History of St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital

Our hospital was first established in 1977. It joined St John of God Health Care in 2004 and was known as St John of God Nepean Rehabilitation Hospital.

The hospital’s name was changed in 2012 to St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital to better reflect the community we served.

Refurbishment was undertaken at this time adding four beds to the hospital and and an upgrade to the main gym.

In late 2016, the hospital underwent a $9.7 million refurbishment increasing the number of single bed wards and upgrading all patient accommodation areas, in particular the ensuites.

In addition, the refurbishment included a significant upgrade of the front entrance, chapel and reception areas.

Today, St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital is a highly modern and fast growing hospital with some of the latest medical developments and technology being used to aid the recovery of our patients.
