Parent education
St John of God Berwick Hospital offers a variety of parent education opportunities. These include maternity unit tours, booking-in clinics and telephone support. Once you have booked in to deliver your baby with us, you will be invited to attend birthing classes. These help prepare you for the birth of your baby including what to expect during labour, drugs, forcep delivery, episiotomy and emergency caesarean.

When making the decision of where to welcome your baby to the world it makes sense that you would like to take a tour of the hospital unit.
What are the delivery suites like? What if your baby needs a special care nursery? Will you have your own bathroom? Is there room for your partner?
We answer these common questions and take you on a tour of our wonderful maternity unit.
You get to see the rooms, where to park, delivery suites, baby bathing area and so much more.

Pregnancy information sessions
We host pre-pregnancy information sessions throughout the year.
These sessions are led by one of our obstetricians who will discuss all of the important information that people need to know when planning a pregnancy. One of our midwives will present more information about the options we provide for pregnancy care management. We then take you on a tour of the hospital to show you our maternity suites. Attendees never go home empty-handed, receiving a bag of goodies when you leave.

Physiotherapy sessions
We offer a weekly physiotherapy program to help your body recover after the birth of your baby.
The postnatal program is run by a qualified physiotherapist who specialises in post pregnancy care. Sessions focus on pelvic floor and abdominal exercises to help you regain your muscle structure and tone.
