What to expect
- A sleeve gastrectomy usually takes around an hour in theatre followed by a two-night hospital stay.
- It is recommended that patients take 3 to 4 weeks off work to recover.
- Patients may experience some discomfort after the procedure which can be managed with pain relief medication.
- Average weight loss following the procedure is expected to be 60-70% of excess weight.
