Dr Shahriar Raj Zaman, or Raj, is an Australian and internationally trained, fully qualified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He qualified from the University of Western Australia in 2009 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.

Following graduation he pursued several years of surgical training — not only in plastic surgery but also in neurosurgery and general surgery for further experience. He is Australian board certified, having completed the Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) examination in June 2022. Following completion of his training Dr Zaman pursued further sub specialty training in complex microsurgical reconstruction at the world renowned Asan Medical Centre in Seoul, South Korea. This was under the esteemed tutelage of Professors JP Hong, Peter Suh, John Pak and JW Choi. To put the volume workload into perspective, Asan Medical Centre is a 3000-bed hospital with 100 operating theatres!

After this stint in Seoul, Dr Zaman proceeded to seek further training in aesthetic surgery in Sydney, Australia. This was under the auspices of the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons based out of Macquarie University. There he gained valuable experience with some of the leading breast, body and face aesthetic surgeons in the field. Dr Zaman is a respected figure in the medical community, recognised for his commitment to education and research. He is a dedicated mentor, he imparts his knowledge of anatomy and clinical practices to junior doctors and plastic surgery trainees on a regular basis, nurturing the next generation of medical professionals. His contributions to the field extend beyond the confines of the operating room, as evidenced by his publications both domestically and internationally. His fellowships internationally and locally are evidence of his desire to continually deliver the very best care for his patients.

Dr Zaman’s expertise has earned him prestigious invitations to present on influential platforms, including notable engagement addressing melanoma at Asan Medical Centre. His insightful discourse captivated the plastic surgery department, reaffirming his stature as thought leader in the field. His surgical experience is extensive and particular interests include hand surgery, melanoma and skin cancer, complex microsurgical reconstructions as well as aesthetic breast and body contouring surgery.

Dr Zaman’s warm and caring approach ensures he provides a personalised treatment plan for you. His treatment philosophy is that reconstructive and aesthetic surgery should be a positive and life enhancing experience with an exceptional level of service and care. Outside work he loves spending time with his young family, travel and sports.
