Dr Eugene Henry

Dr Henry's clinical practice focuses on the comprehensive assessment and management of complex pain conditions, with a particular emphasis on interventional pain procedures and multidisciplinary pain management.

Dr Henry holds multiple fellowships from recognised specialist colleges, including the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (UK: Fellowship awarded 2020), the Royal College of Physicians (London), and the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. In addition, he holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Education from the University of Leeds, awarded with Merit, and is a recognised educator holding Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UK).

Dr Henry was born in Malaysia and completed his medical degree in Russia, graduating with First Class Honours. He subsequently undertook Emergency Medicine training in the United Kingdom (West Yorkshire) and then carried out advanced Pain Medicine training in Western Australia across major tertiary centres, including Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital.

He holds procedural endorsement by the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists – a rigorous accreditation recognising competency in interventional pain procedures. This encompasses a broad procedural scope developed through structured training.

This international and multi-system training pathway provides him with a broad, adaptable perspective on patient care.

Dr Henry speaks multiple languages – including Tamil, Russian and Malay – allowing him to connect with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds with greater depth and understanding.

He is currently a Senior Lecturer with the University of Western Australia and remains actively involved in teaching and mentoring. Dr Henry is also undertaking a higher degree in research (MPhil), with a focus on neuromodulation in chronic pain, particularly repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation.

He takes a compassionate, non-judgemental approach that values careful listening and clear communication. Pain is often complex and deeply personal, and Dr Henry works with patients to make sense of their experience, providing structured guidance while respecting their individual goals and concerns.

Dr Henry believes that effective pain care is built on genuine partnership and strives to combine his clinical expertise with patient engagement to support meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
