Dr Rila Deen is a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He completed his specialist psychiatry training in Australia.



Dr Deen provides care using a holistic, recovery-oriented approach that is patient-centred and family-inclusive, with careful consideration of each individual’s social and cultural context. His clinical interests include anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis and early intervention, brain injury and cognitive symptoms, chronic pain with psychological factors, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), grief and loss, gaming disorder, and personality disorders.



He is trained in a range of evidence-based psychotherapies, including psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).



Dr Deen works collaboratively with general practitioners and allied health professionals to optimise treatment outcomes and support recovery. He has extensive experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and is fluent in Sinhala and Tamil.



In addition, Dr Deen provides assessment and management for WorkCover, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claims, and Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) clients with psychological injuries .



He also offers a range of advanced biological treatments, including electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), and esketamine therapy, where clinically indicated.
