Dr Vanitha Budhavaram is a Specialist Breast and General Surgeon with advanced expertise in breast cancer and oncoplastic breast surgery. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), a full member of BreastSurgANZ, and a GESA-accredited endoscopist. She is an active member of Breast Cancer Trial group.


She completed a Master of Surgery (General Surgery), graduating with a Governor’s Medal for first position, and holds MRCS (Ireland). Following Fellowship, Dr Budhavaram undertook accredited oncoplastic breast surgery training through BreastSurgANZ at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and completed a Masters of Breast Surgery at the University of Sydney.


Her practice is dedicated exclusively to breast and oncoplastic surgery, providing comprehensive care for both malignant and benign breast conditions within a multidisciplinary framework. She offers the full spectrum of contemporary breast cancer surgery, including localisation techniques for screen-detected lesions, breast-conserving surgery, mammoplasty, partial breast reconstruction with flaps, mastectomy, reconstructive procedures, axillary surgeries and infusaport insertion.


Her practice also includes breast reduction surgery, management of breast implant-related conditions, including implant rupture. She provides risk-reducing surgery for gene-positive patients and coordinates reconstructive care in collaboration with plastic surgeons where required.


Dr Budhavaram holds public appointments at Royal Perth Hospital and St John of God Midland Public Hospital. She is the Breast Unit Lead at Royal Perth Hospital and was previously the Director of Clinical Training at Royal Perth Hospital. She is involved in teaching and training junior doctors, General and Breast surgery trainees.


She is known for her clear communication, empathy, and patient-centred approach, ensuring patients feel informed, supported, and actively involved in decision-making throughout their care.
