St John of God Health Care Launches Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2026–2028

St John of God Health Care has launched its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026–2028, reaffirming its commitment to advancing reconciliation through meaningful action and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Every day across St John of God Health Care, caregivers are privileged to support people at some of the most important moments in their lives. These interactions reflect the organisation’s commitment to dignity, compassion and respect - values that also underpin its approach to reconciliation.

During the previous RAP period, St John of God Health Care made significant progress in strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, expanding cultural learning opportunities for caregivers, creating welcoming and culturally significant spaces, supporting Aboriginal employment initiatives, and improving culturally safe models of care across its hospitals and services.  

Group Chief Executive Officer Bryan Pyne said the new RAP represents the next stage of St John of God Health Care's reconciliation journey.

"At the heart of our reconciliation efforts is a commitment to listen to and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to walk alongside communities in a spirit of respect, partnership and shared understanding.

"This RAP is both a commitment and an invitation: to keep learning, to act with respect, and to walk forward together in genuine partnership."

Guided by St John of God Health Care's Value of Respect, the Innovate RAP 2026–2028 outlines four priority areas that will direct the next stage of the organisation’s reconciliation journey:

• Cultural Safety and Respect
• Relationships
• Aboriginal Employment
• Health Care Access and Equity

These key focus areas provide a clear pathway to strengthen cultural safety, deepen partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, expand employment opportunities, and improve healthcare access and equity for current and future generations.  

St John of God Health Care recognises that reconciliation requires ongoing listening, learning and action. Through this next Innovate RAP, the organisation will continue to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to create positive and lasting change.
