Dr Adrian Koay is an experienced comprehensive ophthalmologist with special interests in cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, eyelid surgery and retinal conditions.
With qualifications from Malaysia, UK and Australia, Dr Koay brings with him a wealth of experience from working in different countries. Locally, he has had the opportunity to work in various locations in Perth, Geraldton, and Carnarvon, both in the public and private sector, providing him with experience in treating a diverse range of patients.
Dr Koay's passion for ophthalmology is reflected in his research and publications. He has written a thesis on diabetic retinopathy and has authored numerous books and articles in both local and international peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals. This reinforces his commitment to staying current with the latest advancements and knowledge in his field.
He has extensive experience in performing complex cataract surgeries and using the latest techniques in microinvasive glaucoma surgery and glaucoma drainage devices. Additionally, Dr Koay has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in treating patients with diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.
Dr Koay is also committed to teaching and sharing his knowledge with others. He regularly teaches GPs, optometrists and medical students from the University of Western Australia, University of Notre Dame, Curtin University, and Edith Cowan University. He believes that educating the next generation of health care professionals is an important part of his role as a physician.
