Kara is a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist living in Geelong with her husband and three daughters. Growing up in Warrnambool, Kara knew she wanted to work with pregnancy, birth and babies since she was in high school.

She travelled to Melbourne in 2002 to study undergraduate Medicine at the University of Melbourne. Whilst there, she also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in the field of Bioethics.

Kara commenced working in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Women’s Hospital in 2011 and completed her specialist training with a focus on caring for families with high risk pregnancies and birth. She currently has public hospital appointments at Barwon Health in Geelong, and also enjoys providing high quality pregnancy care at the Wathaurong Aboriginal Health Service in Geelong.

Kara has a passion for teaching and health communication. She is a Clinical Lecturer at Deakin University Medical School and is the co-founder of pregnancy podcast Pregnancy Uncut, a not-for-profit resource that explores the stories and experiences of women who have experienced complex or high risk pregnancies, with the aim to help families feel seen and heard in their pregnancy journeys.

Kara is passionate about providing high quality pregnancy and birth care, with a focus on supporting women to make their own informed choices around their care and birth experiences.
