Mr Matthew Lawson-Smith is an orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in wrist, elbow, shoulder and hand surgery.
He undertook advanced fellowship training in Perth followed by sub-specialty training in Australia and overseas. This included an upper limb and sports surgery fellowship with the Canberra Orthopaedic Group, a one-year hand and wrist fellowship at the Birmingham Hand Centre, and a one year shoulder and upper limb fellowship at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
Mr Lawson-Smith is actively involved in teaching and research. As an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Notre Dame (Fremantle) Mr Lawson-Smith teaches and gives lectures to registrars and fellows. He is an examiner for the Australian Medical Council and has published more than 12 surgical papers.
