Mr Kwang Tay is a colorectal and general surgeon with special interests in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders. Apart from open surgical procedures, Kwang also specialises in advanced laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic procedures.
Kwang completed his undergraduate medical degree at Monash University in 2007. He received his general surgical training at Monash Health and was awarded fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2027.
Following that, he spent a year as Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) research fellow at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research investigating the transcriptomic differences between primary colorectal cancer and colorectal liver metastases. His second year of CCSANZ fellowship was at St George Hospital (NSW) conducting research on pelvic floor disorders. His final year of CSSANZ fellowship was undertaken at St Vincent’s Hospital (VIC) with a special focus on inflammatory bowel disease. Kwang has a strong interest in research with more than 25 peer-reviewed journal article publications to date.
Kwang has public appointments at Monash Health and Warragul Hospital. He provides holistic patient-centred care for his patients. He is multilingual and speaks Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia.
