Dr Andrew Taylor is an experienced rheumatologist who has worked in his private practice at St John of God Murdoch Hospital since 1997. He is also a Consultant Rheumatologist at Royal Perth and Fiona Stanley Hospitals.


Dr Taylor is a West Australian and graduated in Medicine from the University of Western Australia. He worked as a junior medical officer and registrar at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital before undertaking training as a Specialist Physician. His training as a Rheumatologist followed at both SCGH and Royal Perth Hospital. When his training was complete, he undertook a two year clinical research fellowship at the Royal Hospital of Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, UK. There, Dr Taylor worked with international experts furthering his skills in clinical Rheumatology, as well as clinical and scientific research.


Dr Taylor has been Head of Department and Director of the Goatcher Clinical Research Unit of the Rheumatology department at Royal Perth Hospital. As a Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Western Australia, he is involved in medical student education in addition to his research. He is a member of the Australian Rheumatology Association, British Society for Rheumatology, American College of Rheumatology, Australian Association of Consultant Physicians and the Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine. He is actively involved in clinical research with special interests in spondyloarthritis, new therapies in inflammatory arthritis, vasculitis and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
