Mr Sanjay Sharma is a leading cardiothoracic surgeon and treats patients at St John of God Murdoch Hospital. Mr Sharma underwent a six year surgical training program in cardiothoracic surgery at Royal Perth Hospital as well as in the Eastern States and New Zealand. He obtained his Fellowship in 2002 at the age of 32 years, one of the youngest cardiothoracic surgeons in Australia. He underwent post Fellowship training at the Brigham and Women’s’ Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston in 2002. Mr Sharma trained in advanced techniques of minimally invasive valve surgery, transplantation and blood conservation principles in addition to lung cancer surgery and chest wall reconstruction. He has a keen interest in hyperhidrosis surgery for sweating treatment.Mr Sharma established the thoracic surgical program at St John of God Murdoch Hospital in 2012. He performs cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass, valve repair and replacement, aneurysm repair and minimally invasive lung surgery for lung cancer.He is Associate Adjunct Professor at Curtin Medical School. He serves on the Medical Advisory Committee and Clinical Review Committee of the Mount Hospital and is a Senior Instructor with the Royal College of Surgeons. He has published and presented extensively in peer-reviewed journals.
