Dr James Sapontis is a General and Interventional Cardiologist who sees patients with a multitude of heart conditions, including those with coronary artery disease. He completed his specialist training at internationally recognised institutions in both the United Kingdom and the United States before returning to Melbourne. He is a recognised leader in his field with involvement in clinical research and is a Principal Investigator in several Victorian, Australian, and international research trials.
Dr Sapontis is abreast of current guidelines and treatment options relating to a wide variety of general cardiac issues and prevention. He is a forerunner in treating more complex cardiovascular disease (PCI) and keeps abreast of the most cutting-edge techniques and technologies available.
Dr Sapontis consults and operates at St John of God Berwick Hospital, currently Director of Cardiology, and holds a public position at the Victorian Heart Hospital as the Director of Complex Coronary Intervention. He aims to provide an integrated and personalised approach to all patient care, with no problem seen as too trivial or too difficult to undertake.
