Professor Ian Mc Allister

Professor Ian McAllister is an ophthalmologist specialising in vitreo-retinal disorders and cataract surgery. This includes the medical and surgical treatment of macular degeneration and macular disorders, diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular disorders and retinal detachment. He is a consultant ophthalmologist at the Lions Eye Institute, which is the centre for ophthalmology and visual science at the University of Western Australia.

He has research interests in retinal vascular disease, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration and has held ten major NH&MRC grants as a principal investigator as well as numerous minor grants and has published more than 160 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has given over 140 papers as an invited speaker both nationally and internationally.
