Dr Sheldon Moniz is an Australian-trained orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in upper and lower limb arthroplasty, sports medicine, and trauma surgery. Raised in Perth, Dr Moniz completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia (UWA) before undertaking orthopaedic training in Western Australia.



He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA), and subsequently completed an AOA-accredited fellowship at the Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland. Dr Moniz has also gained valuable international experience working with leading orthopaedic surgeons across Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, and Italy.



Dr Moniz holds public appointments at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Rockingham General Hospital, Fremantle Hand Unit and Albany Health Campus. He consults privately at Orthopaedics WA in Murdoch Square and provides a visiting orthopaedic service consulting at the Great Southern Specialist Centre in Albany on a monthly basis.



Clinical interests:


Dr Moniz has a particular interest in upper limb and hand conditions and provides comprehensive care for hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder disorders, including arthroscopic reconstructive surgery and shoulder replacement. He also treats lower limb conditions, including hip and knee replacements as well as sports injuries such as ACL and meniscal injuries.



In addition to elective orthopaedic surgery, Dr Moniz provides comprehensive trauma care for fractures, motor vehicle accidents, and workplace injuries, and regularly participates in the trauma roster at SJOG Murdoch.
