Katherine graduated from the University of Melbourne medical school in 1997, undergoing her clinical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She subsequently underwent basic physician training at Western Hospital, Footscray/Sunshine.
Her nephrology specialist training was carried out at various large teaching hospitals across Melbourne, as well as Geelong. Since 2009 she has been working as a consultant nephrologist in Geelong, as well as a general physician. In addition, Katherine is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Deakin University, and is involved in teaching Deakin medical students at University Hospital - Geelong, where she is also a supervisor and mentor for basic physician trainees.
