Dr Kanishka Muru completed his specialist training in Sri Lanka and subsequently obtained the Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) in Australia.
He has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in Latrobe Regional Hospital, Latrobe Valley for six years with the primary mental health care, crisis team and has been in private practice since 2014. Dr Muru has been involved in teaching and supervising medical students, post graduate trainees and junior psychiatrists at Latrobe Regional Hospital.
He is particularly interested in working with general practitioners on primary care. His areas of interests are ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, bi-polar disorder and organic and functional psychotic disorders in late adolescent and adult groups. He provides consultations at St John of God Langmore Centre.
