Associate Professor David Neale McClure has been in practice as a full time vascular and endovascular surgeon in Geelong since 1999.


After completing the Australian Vascular Board certified training, A/Prof McClure was awarded The Australasian Vascular Prize; as the top trainee; a recipient of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons’ Wylie and RC Bennett medals. He has pioneered the introduction of endoluminal stent grafting of aortic aneurysms, stenting for carotid artery disease, lower limb artery stenting under local anaesthetic as an alternative to bypass grafting, and outpatient treatment of varicose veins by laser therapy and the full range of surgical care to patients with artery or vein disease, to patients in Geelong and the wider reaches of the State’s Western region.


A/Professor McClure is currently the Director of Geelong Vascular Service; dedicated to the assessment and care of arterial and venous disease. Special interests include open surgery and minimally invasive therapies for Aortic Aneurysms, Carotid Artery disease, Lower limb Artery disease, Varicose veins (endovenous laser therapy and sclerotherapy), management of DVT, Leg Ulcer care, Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and Congenital Vascular Malformations. The service is assisted by Geelong Vascular Ultrasound, which welcomes direct requests for assessment.
