Mr Matthew Lawson-Smith is an orthopaedic surgeon with a clinical interest in hand, wrist and shoulder surgery.


He undertook advanced fellowship training in Perth followed by training in Australia and overseas. This included an upper limb and sports surgery fellowship with the Canberra Orthopaedic Group, a one-year hand and wrist fellowship at the Birmingham Hand Centre, and a one year shoulder and upper limb fellowship at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.


Mr Lawson-Smith is actively involved in teaching and research. As an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Notre Dame (Fremantle) Mr Lawson-Smith teaches and gives lectures to registrars and fellows. He is an examiner for the Australian Medical Council and has published more than 12 surgical papers.
