Dr Khong started practising ophthalmology in 1993 in the United Kingdom where he completed his specialist training. He received his letters in London in 1997 as Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and later, Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists following relocation to WA.
He had undertaken an additional two years as a clinical research fellow in glaucoma at Bristol University/Bristol Eye Hospital and a further two years of fellowships in medical and surgical retina in Perth under Prof Ian McAllister and Prof Ian Constable, and in Melbourne at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Vitreoretinal Unit. Several peer reviewed publications were produced during these periods.
He currently consults at St John of God Geraldton and Murdoch Hospitals. The mainstay of his work comprises medical and surgical retinal diseases and cataract surgery with over 30 years of clinical experience.
Dr Khong is married with two adult children. His interests include cycling, skiing, hiking, flying, photography and the pursuit of happiness!
