Mr Suren Jayaweera obtained his MBBS at Monash University in 2000 and obtained his FRACS in 2010 in general surgery and endocrine surgery.



He spent two years as Endocrine Surgery Fellow at the Austin and Western General Hospitals and gained further experience in Endocrine Surgery in New York, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. His interests include benign and malignant disease of the thyroid and parathyroid glands, endoscopic trans-axillary thyroid surgery and adrenal disease.



He is a consultant endocrine and general surgeon at Monash Health, and is head of Paediatric Endocrine Surgery at Monash Children's Hospital. He was the first surgeon in Victoria to perform transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy, a revolutionary procedure that leave no visible scars on the neck.
