Mr Matt Henderson is originally from South Africa where he trained in Johannesburg at the University of the Witwatersrand. He moved to New Zealand completing his General Surgery training in 2011.
He went on to complete subspeciality training with ANZGOSA (Australia and New Zealand Gastro Oesophageal Surgery Association) in Oesophagus and Stomach Surgery. Mr Henderson works publicly at Fremantle Hospital.
During his training, he developed specific interests in the surgical treatment of obesity, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, hiatus hernias, achalasia, gallstones, abdominal/inguinal hernias and endoscopy.
Matt is also involved with the teaching and supervision of medical students within the Faculty of Medicine at Notre Dame University, Fremantle. He mentors these students both within his private practice and the hospital system – inspiring the next generation of general surgeons.
