Dr Neel Heerasing is a consultant gastroenterologist with special interests in inflammatory bowel diseases and clinical nutrition, was born and raised in the exotic island of Mauritius. Neel graduated with first class Honours from Monash University in 2008 as the Dux of the Southern Clinical School. He completed his Basic Physician Training at Monash Health and undertook his specialist gastroenterology training at Barwon Health and Alfred Health, obtaining his FRACP in 2015.


Throughout his training, he enjoyed teaching medical and post-graduate students. Neel moved to the United Kingdom in 2016 to further his training and undertook a two-year research fellowship at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Pharmacogenetics Research Centre. He is well published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has presented at both national and international conferences.


His professional affiliations include the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, British Society of Gastroenterology and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation. Neel manages all aspects of Gastroenterology & Hepatology including liver disorders, bowel cancer screening and functional bowel disorders.
