Mr Joseph Gunn is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who treats patients at St John of God Berwick Hospital.



Mr Gunn completed his Medical degree in 1999. He completed basic surgical training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and entered advanced training in general surgery. He obtained valuable experience as a surgical registrar in surgical disciplines, including trauma, vascular, cardiothoracic, and plastic surgery. He completed his dental degree from the University of Melbourne, followed by specialist oral and maxillofacial surgery training at major hospitals throughout Victoria and Tasmania.



Mr Gunn secured a position as a Clinical Fellow in the UK at the Oxford University Hospitals. Gaining further experience, particularly in corrective jaw surgery, including cleft lip and palate, head and neck oncology and surgery of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).



Mr Gunn practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dentoalveolar surgery (removal of teeth, including wisdom teeth, placement of implants and bone grafts), management of patients with facial trauma, and treating pathology of the mouth and jaws. He is passionate about corrective jaw surgery for patients with the wide range of conditions that benefit from orthognathic surgery.



Mr Gunn also trains surgical trainees, medical and dental students.
